- Series of albums by Canadian artist Devin Townsend
Described as a "grouping of oddities and interesting material that he would like people to hear, but that aren’t necessarily a ‘major release’. The series will include all the quarantine songs and concerts, as well as various live shows from the past few years.
• “Devolution Series #1: master release” (released on March 19th, 2021) is a remixed and remastered version of the ‘Live in Leeds’ show that was originally included on the release Ultimate Edition as video asset.
• “Devolution Series #2: master release” (released on June 25th, 2021) is a live show recorded between July and September 2020 in various places around the world. Originally streamed on September 5th, 2020 on StageIt.com as a replacement show for the COVID affected “Empath Vol. 2 European Tour” and various cancelled Summer festivals. The show features Devin on vocals and guitars, Samus Paulicelli III on drums, Wes Hauch on guitars and Diego Tejeida on keys.
• “Devolution Series #3: master release” (released on August 4th, 2023) is a live show taken from the 2020 American tour. Described by Devin Townsend as such: This was a very unique tour for me, and one that was regrettably cut short by the pandemic. It was a stripped-back version of the ‘Order of Magnitude’ band (without choir and a few other members…), but as I try to do with each tour, the goal was to make this a unique and special night. Therefore, this tour marked a ‘free form’ version of the material. There were no backing tracks, click tracks, or even a setlist, so every night was unique and different. The audience yelled out requests and we just rolled with it. The material was therefore interpreted in unique ways and the experience was a very special ‘fly by the seat of our pants’ musical night.
