- Nonprofit performing arts center located in the Centennial District of Philadelphia's West Fairmount Park, founded in 1935 as the summer home for the The Philadelphia Orchestra. It is currently known as the Mann Center for the Performing Arts and is also referred to as "The Mann".
It has hosted numerous world-class artists and touring companies. The venue has a total seating capacity of approximately 14,000, with 4,700 seats under the roof and over 8,600 outside. The present building first opened in 1976 as Robin Hood Dell West (with the original in 1930 opened Robin Hood Dell outdoor amphitheater taking the name Robin Hood Dell East) and subsequently in 1979 it was designated the Mann Music Center in honor of the industrialist and patron of the arts Frederic R. Mann (September 13, 1903 – February 26, 1987) who helped finance music centers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Tel Aviv, Israel.
In 2000, the facility was renamed to The Mann Center for the Performing Arts to reflect the center’s plans to broaden its programming and service to the overall community.
